The impeachment of the incumbent president is the first in eight years since the impeachment of former President Park Geun Hye in 2016.

The fate of the Yoon Suk Yeol administration and early presidential election are now up to the Constitutional Court's decision.

The Constitutional Court will hear the impeachment bill handed over by the National Assembly for up to 180 days and then make a decision to cite or dismiss it.

The impeachment resolution was delivered to President Yoon, and his duties as the head of foreign affairs, defense, and administration were immediately suspended. Prime Minister Han Deok-soo was converted to an acting presidential system.
